Flu and October
Got 2 of my kids flu shots yesterday. I had mine about 2 weeks ago. Jacob is recovering nicely from emergency surgery and is back in school. October is here and I'm really ready for Fall weather more than ever. Need to get back into making things.....have been on a break far too long and intend to change that soon! Oh, really enjoying my new hardwood floors, what a difference putting this in makes. So I've been busy repainting trim and a few walls and hanging up some digital scrapping of more family. My wall is almost covered over the piano now, love it!

Fall Back
I was just thinking today that the time change comes up again soon for the Fall. The first Sunday in November at 2am this year is when this happens for my neck of the woods. Too bad the weather doesn't seem like Fall here just yet. In the evenings and mornings it's awfully nice, but the humidity during most of the day is still so fierce that Summer feels like it just doesn't want to leave. So I say this because I'm ready for Fall weather! It's probably my most favorite time of the year if it ever comes. Scotland will be a refreshing change I'm sure. So......I'm leaving tomorrow for the UK, wish me luck!

Halloween is over!
Actually I am glad it 's over. I realize this is a fun time for most kids and plenty of adults, but for me it signals that Fall weather is really here and we are head long into the holiday season. I am hoping this year will be time well spent with family and friends and no hectic rush to do shopping amongst the crowds of materialistic, greedy and often times rude people. I don't think it's a cop out on my part to hope for this, rather than a need for a more restful and enjoyable time of the year. Is that too much to ask? I hope not. Happy holidays to everyone and may God bless you and your family :)

Sneak Peak!

Good morning on this sunny Sunday from Texas! Well, looks like all that rain that I complained about is gone and we're in for temps upwards of 100 F now for probably all of this coming week. I knew this would happen, hahaha. But that's OK. I can then appreciate Fall even more when it comes. Speaking of Fall...I've made up an unusual little item for sale on my page of The Humble Arts Falloween themed month that should appear tomorrow on Monday. This is a photo of it and I had a lot of fun making it. The construction itself was simple. It was the embellishing and fun of finding old sewing items to attach to it that I loved! We're getting ready to leave so I wanted to let those of you know who might be interested. Have a great day yall :)
UPDATE: Prim Pear Pin Keep is SOLD, YAY!!!

"Nekkid Doll"
Strange title, I know. But I wanted to show an "in progress" photo of my upcoming doll that will debut on The Humble Arts website for August 1st. Our theme will be Under the Falloween Moon. Most of us will have items with this Fall/Halloween theme in mind up for sale at this time.I've made up this particular doll at least 3 other times. Each time she's been a little different and this time she'll be a OOAK too. Keep in mind that this is just a blank canvas of a doll that I've put together, with lotsa painting, aging and even more sewing ahead of me. Not to mention designing her clothing too. She's stuffed firmly and has a weighted tush. I've found that constructing a boxed bottom and adding steel shot before the final closing stitches makes for a really nice sitter of a doll and gives them a weightier feel so when you pick 'em up it's like holding a real person (almost?) Remember to click on the photo to see a nice larger view!
